Course Description: | Explore why bats, representing 20 percent of all mammalian species, are still misunderstood and maligned. This class will demystify bats as well as give students a new appreciation for this umbrella species. Wild populations and husbandry of captive populations will be covered.

REQUIRED COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES:
1. Investigate bat biology through exploration of bat anatomy and physiology.
2. Evaluate bat myths.
3. Interpret the needs of captive bat populations through study of captive bat husbandry.
4. Demonstrate awareness and knowledge about world distribution of bats and conservation needs and programs.
5. Participate in the nocturnal world of bats through field experiences.
6. Design and construct bat housing boxes to support native and local bat populations.
