  Course Description:Instructs in safety, theory, and practical applications in joint fit-up, design, and welding pipe in the 6-G 45° Uphill position. This course teaches welding in accordance with the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Pipe Code using the GTAW process and SMAW process with E-XX18 and E-XX10 type electrodes.

 STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
 
 1) Evaluate and exhibit the use and safe operation of equipment and machinery associated with the pipe welding trade.
 2) Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
 3) Demonstrate an understanding of A.S.M.E. Standards in the 6-G 45° Uphill position.
 4) Exhibit manipulative skills using various pipe cutting / beveling techniques.
 5) Demonstrate the ability to properly fit pipe in the 6-G 45° Uphill position.
 6) Demonstrate the ability to weld various diameters of pipe in the 6-G 45° Uphill position with various diameter electrodes.
 7) Identify and interpret blueprint symbols associated with the 6-G 45° Uphill position.
 8) Exhibit skill sets necessary to pass Guided Bend Test in accordance with A.S.M.E. standards using the GTAW and SMAW process.


 TOPICAL OUTLINE:
 
 I. Safety practices on various equipment and machinery
 II. Weld various diameter of pipe in 6-G 45° Uphill position, open butt joints using multi-pass process. (Root, Hot Pass, Cover)
 III. GTAW and SMAW process using various diameter E-XX10 and E-XX18 type electrodes
 IV. Bevel Cut and proper fit-up
 V. Bend Test, Root & Face welds
 VI. Interpret blueprints
 VII. A.S.M.E. Code Standards
