  Course Description:Covers safety inspections, minor repairs, operating parameters, and operation of SMAW, GMAW, and FCAW equipment in a variety of positions on plain carbon steel pipe joints. Also covers evaluating and solving complex welding and fabrication problems and administering hands on training and supervision to other students during assigned fabrication and welding operations.

 REQUIRED COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES:
 1.  Follow shop safety practices.
 2.  Maintain a clean, safe work area.
 3.  Prepare assigned records.
 4.  Follow assigned instructions to complete work assignments.
 5.  Participate in assigned fabrication projects.
 6.  Perform safety inspections on  equipment
 7.  Make minor external repairs as necessary to equipment.
 8.  Set up for welding operations on plain carbon steel.
 9.  Operate welding equipment.
 10.  Perform pipe layout and cutting operations.
 11.  Make fillet welds in the flat position on plain carbon steel pipe.
 12.  Make groove welds in the 2G, 5G, and 6G positions on plain carbon steel pipe.
 13.  Examine tack and completed welds.
 14.  Execute corrective actions to repair surface flaws on welds and base metals.
 15.  Recognize fundamental principles of pipe welding and fitting.
 16.  Explain fundamental principles of pipe welding and fitting.
 17.  Evaluate assigned welding and fabrication problems.
 18.  Propose solutions to assigned welding and fabrication problems.
 19.  Supervise other students during assigned fabrication and welding operations.
 20.  Administer assigned hands on training.
