REQUIRED COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES:
1. Follow shop safety practices.
II. Maintain a clean, safe work area.
III. Prepare assigned records.
IV. Follow assigned instructions to complete work assignments.
V. Participate in assigned fabrication projects.
VI. Perform safety inspections on SMAW equipment
VII. Make minor external repairs as necessary to SMAW equipment.
VIII. Set up for shielded metal arc welding operations on plain carbon steel.
IX. Operate shielded metal arc welding equipment.
X Make groove and heavy fillet welds, all positions on plain carbon steel utilizing E-6010 and E-7018 electrodes.
XI. Examine tack and completed welds.
XII. Execute corrective actions to repair surface flaws on welds and base metals.
XIII. Recognize fundamental principles of the SMAW process.
