  Course Description:Introduces safety inspections, minor repairs, operating parameters, oxyacetylene welding equipment, and oxyacetylene welding, brazing, and soldering operations. Blueprint reading skills will be practiced in this course.

 STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
 
 I.      Follow shop safety practices.
 II.     Maintain a clean, safe work area.
 III.    Prepare assigned records.
 IV.     Follow assigned instructions to complete work assignments.
 V.      Participate in assigned fabrication projects.
 VI.     Perform safety inspections on oxyacetylene equipment
 VII.    Make minor external repairs as necessary to oxyacetylene equipment.
 VIII.   Set up for oxyacetylene welding, brazing, and soldering operations.
 IX.     Operate oxyacetylene welding equipment.
 X       Make fillet, lap, and butt welds on plain carbon steel in all positions.
 XI.     Perform brazing operations on plain carbon steel in the flat and vertical positions.
 XII.    Perform soldering operations on rigid copper tubing.
 XIII.   Perform hard surfacing operations on plain carbon steel.
 XIV.    Examine tack and completed welds.
 XV.     Execute corrective actions to repair surface flaws on welds and base metals.
 XVI.    Recognize fundamental principles of the oxyacetylene joining processes covered.
