 STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
 
         A.      Remove fabric, tacks and staples from frame (I)
         B.      Measure and order fabric for sofa (II)
         C.      Repair wood members, gluing or re-gluing them (III)
         D.      Repair or retie spring units (IV)
         E.      Lay out and sew cover fabric (V)
         F.      Recover all outside sections and reattach them (VI)


 TOPICAL OUTLINE:
 
 I.      Stripping a sofa
         A.      Remove old fabric
         B.      Remove all tacks or staples from furniture frame
         C.      Inspect frame and springs
 II.     Determine yardage for sofa material
         A.      Measure sofa for new fabric
         B.      Make allowances for pattern matches and flow of nap
 III.    Repair sofa frame
         A.      Repair or replace wood members
         B.      Clean, glue or re-glue all joints
 IV.     Repair spring unit
         A.      Repair or retie spring unit
         B.      Replace webbing, burlap or panel board
 V.      Recovering side sections of assigned project
         A.      Lay out cover fabric
         B.      Sew cover fabric
         C.      Apply padding to individual sections
         D.      Run flow of nap or pattern in proper direction
         E.      Attach fabric cover to sofa frame
         F.      Apply proper tightness to fabric cover
 VI.     Assembling cushions for sofa
         A.      Measure and lay out fabric
         B.      Cut pattern from inside area
         C.      Measure, lay out and cut design
         D.      Sew covers
         E.      Place padding in covers
