STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
1. Demonstrate the understanding of the theory and history of simultaneous interpretation.
2. Demonstrate the knowledge of proper application for the simultaneous interpretation.
3. Demonstrate the understanding of the proper preparation requirements and shift arrangements for simultaneous interpretation.
4. Identify the differences in conference setting simultaneous interpreting and community setting simultaneous interpreting.
5. Demonstrate knowledge of international standards, as well as education and preparation requirements for conference and community
simultaneous interpreting in the US and other countries.
6. Practice simultaneous interpretation skills. Understand and apply décalage. Demonstrate consistency at lower speeds and complexity
for 15-20 minute intervals.
7. Demonstrate excellent command and understanding of terms most commonly used in community and legal settings likely to require
the application of simultaneous interpretation mode
