STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
I. Demonstrate knowledge of basic electrical theories as applied to the equipment and situations commonly encountered for lighting in the performing arts.
II. Demonstrate an understanding of color theories in lighting and apply that understanding in practical situations.
III. Identify the major types of lighting equipment used in the performing arts, their components and different uses.
IV. Demonstrate the ability to maintain, hang and focus the various types of lighting equipment correctly and safely.
V. Show knowledge of lighting control systems and the ability to use these systems.
VI. Demonstrate an understanding of the concepts of lighting design for the performing arts and apply the concepts in practical situations.
VII. Demonstrate an understanding of the preparation and presentation of a portfolio.
