STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
I. Understand technical drawings and plots for scenery, properties, and lighting designs.
II. Demonstrate ability to construct and paint scenery and properties.
III. Demonstrate ability to execute a lighting plot.
IV. Demonstrate the proper use of technical theatre equipment and supplies.
V. Maintain a safe scene shop and its equipment.
VI. Perform as a member of technical building and running crews.
TOPICAL OUTLINE:
I. Constructing scenic units and operating lighting equipment.
A. Read technical drawings of set/properties units and lighting plots.
B. Build flats, platforms, step units, and other set pieces.
C. Fabricate and build set and hand properties.
D. Paint scenic units and properties.
E. Hang, plug, aim, focus, gel, and operate lighting instruments.
II. Practices of working in scene, paint, and lighting shops.
A. Operate shop equipment and tools and utilize supplies in scene and lighting shops.
B. Maintain orderly, functional, clean, and safe shop and technical equipment, tools, and supplies.
III. Participation in running crews for stage productions.
A. Function as a team member on running crews.
B. Acquire and describe skills on leading running crews.
C. Organize load-in/out and set/srike of scenic units/properties for the rehearsal performance process.
