  Course Description:Introduces the vocabulary of human movement, techniques of physical training, and anatomy and kinesiology for the actor. The course includes forms of basic dance and the coordination of movement with vocal delivery.

 STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
 
 I.      Acquire the vocabulary and techniques of movement and physical conditioning.
 II.     Improve the physical capability of the human body.
 III.    Acquire rudimentary skills of movement and dance.
 IV.     Integrate movement techniques with vocal and non-verbal delivery of text


 TOPICAL OUTLINE:
 
 I.      Verbal and physical vocabulary.
         A.      Define vocabulary terms of movement.
         B.      Enhance concentration and mental agility required to make choices in characterization.
         C.      Perform exercises that improve breathing, posture, stance, attitude, focus, and other areas of movement.
         D.      Practice for mechanical efficiency and safety in body movement activities.
 II.     Basic Anatomy and Kinesiology
         A.      Align and tone the body.
         B.      Practice helpful conditioning exercises.
         C.      Warm up the body for rehearsal and performance.
 III.    Theatre Dance
         A.      Utilize improvisational theatre games, unarmed combat techniques, and basic mask work to aid in characterization.
         B.      Practice dances commonly used in plays, including waltz, tango, fox trot, swing, and tap.
         C.      Employ rudimentary techniques of ballet, modern, jazz, mime, yoga, Feldenkrais, Pilates, and Tai Chi.
 IV.     Voice and Movement Correlation
         A.      ¿Suit the action to the word.¿
         B.      Develop timing of physical and vocal delivery.
         C.      Choose appropriate movement for a character.
         D.      Deliver monologue(s).
         E.      Discuss the process and execution of movement.
         F.      Report to the class on  theatrical texts and performances observed
