Course Description: | Present professional ESL representatives from various area domains such as community college arena, teaching TESL abroad, community-based ESL adult schools, K-12 options, entrepreneurial use in workplace literacy, virtual ESL possibilities, private ESL institutions, and business technical areas for ESL abroad and locally. It provides interaction with professional teachers working in the field An additional workshop will help students develop TESL job search skills and resume writing. |

STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
I. Examine the differences and similarities of working in the TESL vs. TEFL workplace.
II. Explore the availability of work opportunities in the TESL or TEFL workplace.
III. Identify key differences between working in a public institution vs. private institution in the TESL workplace such as demand, scope, typical schedule, curriculum mandates, pay, resources, values, and professional development opportunities.
IV. Examine requirements that public and private hiring institutions, community agencies, or other potential employers seek from TESL job candidates.
V. Complete a self assessment and translate personal qualifications, life skills, experiences, and interests into a marketable format.
VI. Create a professional TESL resume for either teaching in North America or in a foreign country.
VII. Initiate contact with a public or private hiring institution, community agency, or other potential employer.
