STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
1. Discuss the sources of patient health data for the general, obstetr ic/gynecological and orthopedic surgical patient
2. List the techniques utilized in pre-operative diagnosis of general, obstetric/gynecological and orthopedic surgical pathologies
3. Review the indications for surgical intervention .
4. Discuss anatomy relative to general, obstetric/gynecological and orthopedic surgical procedures .
5. Describe the surgical pathology and related terminology of general, obstetric/gynecological and orthopedic surgical procedures
6. Identify the names and usage for specialized surgical instrumentation, supplies and medications for general, obstetric/gynecological
and orthopedic surgical procedures
7. Identify specialized equipment relative to the procedure.
8. Discuss pre-operative preparation of the patient for general, obstetric/gynecological and orthopedic surgical procedures
9. Discuss intra operative techniques related to general, obstetric/gynecological and orthopedic surgical procedures
10. Define and give an overview of general, obstetric/gynecological and orthopedic surgical procedures.
11. Describe the dressing and immediate post-operative care of the general, obstetric/gynecological and orthopedic surgical patient.
12. Define the post-operative course and expected outcomes for the patient who undergoes general, obstetric/gynecological and orthopedic surgery
13. Discuss possible post-operative complications and ramifications of general, obstetric/gynecologi cal and orthopedic surgical procedures
