Emphasis is placed on promoting special events for the snowsports industry including new product demos, corporate sponsored competitions, and team events. Topics such as budgeting, staffing, team management, athlete management, and liability will be discussed.

 STANDARD COMPETENCIES
 
 1. Apply the fundamental terms and concepts of promotions and marketing to the snowsports industry
 2. Establish effective communications between the snowsports industry and the media
 3. Identify a successful risk management program to conduct an event within the given facilities from a legal and
    social responsibilities setting.
 4. Demonstrate an understanding of the products, consumers, and sponsorships in the ski and snowboard industry
 5. Evaluate the role of social media in the marketing/promotions of special events and apply these to typical situations
    experienced by the snowsports industry
 6. Develop an event management plan for a promotional snowsports event, contest, or product launch
