  Course Description:Covers a variety of summative learning activities through the development of a student learning portfolio. This course provides students with the time and focus to create a student learning portfolio based on knowledge and skills acquired, and collections of work completed, in previous Snow, Weather, and Avalanche Field Technician Program coursework. Coursework also includes research or focused study in topics related to the program and preparation for the job market.

 TOPICAL OUTLINE
 
 1. Demonstrate successful completion of learning outcomes from across the entire Snow Weather and Avalanche Field Technician Program
     including: core knowledge and skills, making field observations, safe travel, rescue and first aid, leadership, snow science, forecasting,
     avalanche operations, and risk management.
 2. Build an organized body of work that reflects a learning progression toward professional knowledge, skills, and attitudes in avalanche safety.
 3. Relate Snow, Weather, and Avalanche Field Technician Program learning to employer needs.

      b. Overview of the portfolio building process
      c. Overview of various portfolio formats
      d. Planning your portfolio
      e. Identifying appropriate portfolio content
 II. Mentored portfolio development
      a. Selection of portfolio format and content
      b. Identify and engage in other learning activities that reinforce overall Snow Weather and Avalanche Field Technician Program coursework (e.g. expanded topical exploration, synthesis of concepts, research, or other learning activities)
      c. Ongoing work on portfolio project with instructor guidance
      d. Student learning portfolio draft submission, review, and comment
