Course Description: | Familiarizes students with various ropeway construction methods and maintenance techniques. Design features of various manufacturers will be discussed and/or observed. Safety, construction techniques, blueprint reading and both preventative and repair maintenance will be emphasized. |

STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
I. Demonstrate safe work habits during construction in accordance with rules and regulations of the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA).
II. Read and interpret ropeway construction flowcharts.
III. Use and or develop a construction flowchart.
IV. Identify all safety features of aerial tramways such as brake systems,
V. development circuits, etc.
VI. Identify and describe various lift components by their manufacturer.
VII. Identify different types of wire rope, their applications, and splicing
VIII. and maintenance of each.
IX. Identify and describe various types of ropeway tower foundations and the
X various erection methods used in ropeway construction.
XI. Understanding the various types of ropeway maintenance activities (i.e.
XII. preventative versus repair).
XIII. Describe the various mechanical and electrical systems on a typical ropeway system and the maintenance/repair activities required of each.
