STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
I. Complete the required number of hours at the internship location. Observe amd/or participate in the operations of the following functions as applicable in the news, production or promotions department of a radio station or allied industry.
A. copywriting & production
B. music library
C. technical control operations
D. computer operations
E. master control operations
F. production room operations
G. news department
H. sales & promotions department
I. remote broadcast operations
J. network activities and any other professional activities. (I)
II. Attend applicable meetings. (I)
III. Complete weekly written progress reports. (II)
IV. Complete required evaluation paper on the entire internship experience. (II)
TOPICAL OUTLINE:
I. The student will gather information which will enable them to understand the most important functions, operations, responsibilities and professional attitudes utilized at commercial Radio stations or an allied industry.
II. UNIT I: The student will secure or be assigned a specific work station location (Radio station or radio production studio) with the instructor`s approval. The student will observe and/or participate in the operations as applicable in the Radio station or allied audio production industry.
III. UNIT II: The student will utilize professional attitudes and responsibilities for internship location operations and FCC obligations.
