Includes sportscasting and weathercasting.

 STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
 
 I.      Write a Newscast following format specifications. (I)
 II.     Write a News Feature following format specifications (I)
 III.    Write a Sportscast following format specifications. (I)
 IV.     Write a paper researching and evaluating commercials broadcast on local stations. (II)
 V.      Write a resume that could be used when job hunting. (III)
 VI.     Demonstrate log operations competencies by taking a quiz. (III)
 VII.    Write a report on broadcasting in another country. (IV)
 VIII.   Demonstrate course information competency with an exam (IV)


 TOPICAL OUTLINE:
 
 I.      The student will receive instruction in news gathering, reporting and news cast production. The student will examine interviewing, special news features, sports, editorial and weathercasting.
 II.     The student will examine advertising concepts and systems, commercial writing and production.
 III.    The student will examine job hunting and job maintenance techniques including resume writing.  The student will study logs.
 IV.     The student will examine non-traditional broadcasting systems, international broadcasting and the role of women in broadcasting.
