 STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
 
 I.      Analyze the differences and the advantages/disadvantages of the prime time market vs. the corporate market in video scriptwriting (I)
 II.     Negotiate the development of programs with different clients to meet their needs and demands for the production¿s purposes.  (I)
 III.    Explain industry technology and format for script development (II)
 IV.     Develop the treatment and the different formats for scripts as accepted by the industry to produce video productions (II)
 V.      Discuss program analysis, and content needs requirements (III)
 VI.     Produce script revisions, and how to handle these revision from producers and clients (III)
 VII.    Compare careers and opportunities as a scriptwriter/copywriter in both broadcast and corporate markets (IV)


 TOPICAL OUTLINE:
 
 I.      The student will have a general understanding of how to research and develop scripts for video productions..
 II.     The student will also understand how to work with the business world and to understand the different roles within the business community
 III.    UNIT I
         A.      The differences between the prime time market and the corporate market demands for video productions.  Understanding the business climate, to include producers and clients, and program design research and content research
 IV.     UNIT II
         A.      Concept thinking to come up with different ideas for video productions, to include visualization and the different script format concepts.  How to develop a program treatment and how this document is used as template for scripts and as an approval tool by the writer
 V.      UNIT III
         A.      The program analysis and content needs documents in support of the scriptwriters justification for the written script and what demands they meet.  Different types of scripts and products to support the script and treatment copy
 VI.     UNIT VI
         A.      How the scriptwriter¿s work is revised, and how to get started in the industry.  Copyright and legal understanding.
