Course Description: | Provides the first internship course for students to complete both Respiratory Care and Emergency Medical Technician-Intermediate training. Course work includes rotations at medical facilities under the supervision of preceptors. Students will have the opportunity to apply principles of patient care as outlined in the course work for Respiratory Therapy and EMT-Intermediate courswork. |

STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
I. The Primary intent of the course will be to take a Respiratory Care/EMS-Intermediate student with some general Respiratory care and EMS experience and place him/her into a hospital setting and ambulance setting so, that with the help of repetitive performance of basic respiratory therapy procedures, and EMS procedures, combined with preceptor feedback, the student will develop into an individual who can begin to manifest the cognitive and noncognitve characteristics distinctive of a Registered Respiratory Care Practitioner and Certified EMT-Intermediate.
II. The student will begin development of basic skills and procedures through practice and understanding.
III. Develop and improve patient assessment skills, critical reasoning skills and clinical judgment abilities
IV. Develop professional affective skills.
V. Experience diverse set of learning outcomes and diverse set of experiences in the clinical setting.
