STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
I. Define and explain the Gestational Development in utero
II. Identify and explain the need of Prenatal history
III. Define and explain the process of Labor and delivery
IV. Define and explain Fetal-Neonatal transition period .
V. Demonstrate the proper way to assess Prenatal and Perinatal History
VI. Demonstrate and note the requirements of a Physical examination of the newborn
VII. Identify Special Problems in the Newborn
VIII. Discuss the importance of the History and Physical Asessment of the Child
IX. Understand Noninvasive Monitoring
X Identify and explain the etiology of Pulmonary system disorders in the newborn.
XI. Identify and explain the etiology of Pulmonary disorders in children
XII. Identify and explain the etiology of Congenital cardiovascular disorders
XIII. Identify and explain the etiology of Congenital anomalies
XIV. Identify and explain the etiology of Neurological disorders
XV. Understand Oxygen Therapy in neonatology and pediatrics
XVI. Understand the use of Continuous Positive Airway Pressure and other Forms of Continuous Distending Pressure
XVII. Understand and demonstrate competencies in Mechanical Ventilation of the Infant and Child
XVIII. Show compentencies in pediatric advanced life support
XIX. Understand Transport of Newborn and Child
XX Identify the requirements and needs of Surfactant Replacement
