Course Description: | Explores the Indications for Pulmonary Function Testing as well as the testing procedures involved in Pulmonary function testing. This will include Spirometry, Lung Volumes and Gas Distribution Tests. Referemce values as well as conversion and correction factors will be introduced. This class will also explore how Pulmonary Function testing is used to diagnose disease and evaluate treatment. |

I. Explore the Indications and purposes of Pulmonary Function Testing
II. Explore and learn about the Equipment and concept of infection control in Pulmonary function testing.
III. Learn the principles of measurement and pulmonary mechanics of:
A. Spirometry
B. Lung volumes and capacities
C. Diffusion capacity
IV. Understand how to use pulmonary function data to evaluate patients and their respiratory care.
V. Understand how to systematically review a pulmonary function report to identify patterns of pulmonary disease
