STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
A. Discuss and describe the basic principles of pharmacology, drug actions, pharmaceutics, pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics, and drug interactions.
B. Explain and calculate basic math and systems of measurements to dosage calculations for medication administration.
C. Pharmacology concepts and nursing implications for ocular disorders, relief of pain and inflammation, sedative-hypnotic and anxiolytic agents, minerals and vitamins, upper gastrointestinal tract, lower gastrointestinal tract, insulin and oral diabetic drugs, and optic medications.
TOPICAL OUTLINE:
I. Fundamental principles of pharmacology.
II. Math principles applied to medication administration.
III. Pharmacology concepts and nursing implications for all medications administration.
