STANDARD COMPETENCIES:

 

 I.      Describe concepts, goals, indications, precautions, contraindications, and safety procedures in goniometric measurements and manual muscle testing of selected joints.

 II.     Demonstrate techniques involved in goniometric measurements and functional manual muscle testing of selected joints.

 III.    Discuss concepts and demonstrate the techniques of gait analysis and corrective exercises.

 IV.     Discuss concepts, goals, indications, precautions, contraindications of therapeutic exercises and their application to specific orthopedic problems utilizing principles of safety.

 V.      Observe and respond to acute changes in the physiological state of the orthopedic patient during therapeutic interventions.

 VI.     Discuss concepts, and goals and demonstrate the techniques involved in posture assessment and correction.

 VII.    Demonstrate the ability to document manual muscle test, goniometry, therapeutic exercise, gait and posture analysis.

 VIII.   Identify common orthopedic diagnosis and appropriate interventions.

 IX.     Discuss and demonstrate therapeutic exercise techniques appropriate for orthopedic conditions.

 X       Utilizing appropriate principles, describe and demonstrate progression of the orthopedic patients.
