A laboratory experience that includes the application of kinesiology and exercise principles is integrated in the learning experience. |

STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
I. Describe the terms that apply to forces, motion, levers and other biomechanical components.
II. Analyze kinetic and kinematic forces influencing human movement.
III. Describe and demonstrate knowledge of muscle physiology and neurophysiology and its interaction with the mechanical factors in function.
IV. Describe and apply basic principles, concepts, rationale, goals, indications, precautions, and contraindications of therapeutic exercise.
V. Discuss the basic principles of physical therapy interventions during the acute, sub acute and chronic phases of soft tissue injury or repair.
VI. Educate and instruct patients/others in therapeutic exercise.
VII. Assess and adapt to patient responses during application of therapeutic exercises.
VIII. Analyze the biomechanical components of normal and abnormal gait.
IX. Analyze the biomechanical components of normal and abnormal posture.
