Course Description: | Investigates the impairments, functional limitations, disabilities and medical management including pharmacology, of a variety of traumatic, immunological, inflammatory and degenerative processes and their impact on physical therapy rehab principles. Evidence based practice for cardiovascular, respiratory, endocrine and chronic pain diagnosis, will be reviewed as they relate to physical therapy rehab. |

STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
I. Describe the impairments, functional limitations, and disabilities associated with selected cardiovascular, respiratory, endocrine, and chronic pain disorders through the individual life span.
II. Identify underlying circumstances and phases of disease and dysfunctions of cardiovascular, respiratory, endocrine, and chronic pain disorders.
III. Identify the signs and symptoms associated with selected cardiovascular, respiratory, endocrine, and chronic pain disorders through the individual life span.
IV. Describe the medical management, including pharmacology, of cardiovascular, respiratory, endocrine, and chronic pain disorders, and their influence and impact on the application of physical therapy rehab principles.
V. Identify the psychosocial, economic, and cultural impact of cardiovascular, respiratory, endocrine, and chronic pain disorders through the individual life span.
VI. Identify the phases of disease and the disease process of cardiovascular, respiratory, endocrine, and chronic pain disorders and the rehab care of specific patient populations.
