Course Description: | Apply techniques learned from Pattern Alteration & Fitting to expand analysis of figure variations to adjust commercial patterns. Examine body variations as applied to bodice and pant garments. A sample notebook is completed with quarter-sized patterns using three pattern alteration methods: pivot and slide, seam method, and slash and spread. Students will modify a commercial pant pattern to clients’ measurements, and construct well-fitting pants. |

STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
1. Identify the design principles and how to use them to camouflage or minimize figure variations.
2. Compile a notebook using quarter size patterns to demonstrate the methods of pattern alterations for upper and lower body figure variations.
3. Take accurate body measurements
4. Make pattern alterations using client measurements on a full size pant pattern.
5. Fit a muslin pant garment and analyze for variations.
6. Construct finished pant garment.
