Course Description: | Using designer patterns, combination of commercial patterns or personally drafted patterns, students construct garments with a designer image. Advanced construction techniques and the use of difficult fabrics are emphasized. Students should be able to construct a garment independently having knowledge of intermediate/advanced sewing techniques. |

STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
I. Describe pattern evolution from base fitting pattern to fashion pattern.
II. Demonstrate proper fabric layout and grain.
III. Select appropriate fabric for specific design.
IV. Perform high-level sewing techniques like inserting a welt pocket, lining, or set-in sleeve with sleeve heads.
V. Explain the necessity of handbasting and marking seamlines for certain garments.
VI. Perform proper pressing and finishing techniques.
VII. Explain the designing of fashion patterns using bodywrap base pattern.
