Students bring their own machines (serger only, no commercial machines), a set of scrwdrivers, and serger tools. A factory-trained technician provides step-by-step instruction on serger tuning and care. |

STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
I. Discuss the importance of serger maintenance.
II. Disassemble serger.
III. Clean, and oil serger.
IV. Time the needle bar if needed.
V. Adjust the tensions to produce acceptable stitch quality.
VI. Reassemble serger in working condition.
VII. Identify the appropriate needles and threads to produce desired stitch quality.
VIII. Analyze machine problems to know if machine needs service by trained technician.
