Course Description: | Covers hand and machine methods for piecing, appliqu¿, and quilting along with color theory, effective use of fabrics, and original design techniques. Additional skills taught include making and using templates, strip piecing variations, crazy quilting, paper piecing, embellishing and finishing techniques. Both traditional and contemporary quilt artistry will be presented. |

STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
I. Identify the fabrics and the equipment used to quilt
II. Draft and make a pattern template.
III. Demonstrate on samples how to hand and machine piece.
IV. Describe how to appliqu¿ by hand and machine.
V. Describe how add borders and sashing, while setting blocks.
VI. Develop the sandwich with batting, and to baste together.
VII. Describe the process of quilting with a frame or a hoop.
VIII. bind and finish the sample
IX. Explain how to care and store a quilt to preserve its history.
