Course Description: | Emphasizes creation of embellished and unique garments and projects from a variety of fabrics and techniques. Computer embroidery, sewing machines, and sergers are available. Students may download designs from the internet or digitize their own with software. Teacher assistance is available on individual projects of choice. Skills developed could be marketable. |

STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
I. Recognize design principles as related to current fashion.
II. Operate computer embroidery and serger machines.
III. Explore ideas to create patterns to embellish projects.
IV. Select the appropriate materials to execute their design.
V. Develop samples of different techniques from the embroidery, sewing and Serger machines before selecting actual project.
VI. Select, load, thread, and stitch out embroidery design.
VII. Understand basic digitizing principles and digitize a design.
VIII. Select suitable finishing techniques to complete at least 3 projects.
IX. Discuss marketing and making a profit with these skills.
