Course Description: | Learn skills to understand and apply pattern drafting systems for fashion design. Students will learn how to take precise body measurements and apply them to draft systems. Using standard or personal measurements, students will complete full size pattern blocks to be used for further pattern development. Use of ½ scale blocks will be introduced for pattern manipulation. |

STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
1. Demonstrate an understanding of how drafting systems work and how measurements dictate pattern outcomes
2. Identify and select proper drafting tools and materials
3. Take and record correct body measurements.
4. Draft a set of master blocks using drafting system
5. Test fit pattern with muslin mockup and how to adjust patterns
6. Apply correct pattern labels
7. Manipulate darts for fullness and design

V. Drafting the basic body set: Bodice Front, Bodice Back, Sleeves, Skirt Front, Skirt Back

VII. Dart manipulation for tucks, pleats, gathers, flare and yokes and other style lines
