Course Description: | Offers the student an opportunity to examine the origins of security. Security originally began as a ¿guarding¿ operation. The activity was known as plant protection and the organization was almost entirely watchmen. Security Officers are now recognized as an integral part of the overall security protection plan. This course examines patrol functions, surveillance and countermeasures. |

STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
I. Describe the basic functions of patrol, post orders, incident reports and action memos.
II. Determine the appropriate surveillance measures to ensure protection of assets, property, and people.
III. Describe the needed countermeasures for protection of assets, property, and people.
IV. Discuss the methods of control and restriction needed at specific locations.
V. Discuss the Insurance needs for individual officers and corporate firms contracting Security Officers.
VI. Define the Training requirements for security officers.
