STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
I. Identify NIMS standard incident management structures based on three key organizational systems
II. Identify the Incident Command System (ICS), which defines the operating characteristics, management components, and structure of incident management organizations throughout the life cycle of an incident
III. Use Multiagency Coordination Systems, which define the operating characteristics, management components, and organizational structure of supporting entities
IV. Identify and implement Public Information Systems, which include the processes, procedures, and systems for communicating timely and accurate information to the public during emergency situations
V. Conduct a simulated activity on a ¿steady-state¿ basis, well in advance of any potential incident.
VI. Demonstrate preparedness involving a combination of:
A. Planning, training, and exercises.
B. Personnel qualification and certification standards.
C. Equipment acquisition and certification standards.
D. Publication management processes and activities.
E. Mutual aid agreements and Emergency Management Assistance Compacts.
VII. Define standardized mechanisms and establish requirements for describing, inventorying, mobilizing, dispatching, tracking, and recovering resources over the life cycle of an incident.
VIII. Identify the requirements for a standardized framework for communications, information management, and information-sharing support at all levels of incident management.
IX. Ensure that effective, interoperable communications processes, procedures, and systems exist across all agencies and jurisdictions.
X Ensure that information flows efficiently through a commonly accepted architecture.
XI. Identify and implement Technology and technological systems that provide supporting capabilities essential to implementing and refining NIMS.
XII. Discuss the NIMS Integration Center which provides strategic direction and oversight in support of routine review and continual refinement of both the system and its components over the long term.
