  Course Description:Determines functional capacity in the areas of body composition, speed and agility, flexibility, muscular strength, and cardiovascular endurance given the requirement to perform the Physical Efficiency Battery (PEB). Students must achieve a score at the level of proficiency required by FLETC. Identify the importance of fitness as it relates to the Law Enforcement Ranger and the five elements of fitness. Conforms to National Park Service standards and Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) certification requirements.

 STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
 
 1. List and describe the benefits of exercise and fitness.
 2. Identify and demonstrate the five elements of fitness.
 3. Describe the importance of fitness as it relates to Law Enforcement Rangers.
 4. Compare the current height and weight to established benchmarks by utilizing a calibrated scale.
 5. Analyze current levels of body fat to lean muscle through the use of a skin fold calipers.
 6. Perform a proper warm-up prior to engaging in any of the physically demanding components of the PEB.
 7. Demonstrate speed and agility through performance of the Illinois agility run.
 8. Demonstrate flexibility of the lower back, hamstrings, and shoulder musculature through the performance of
         the trunk flexion test.
 9. Demonstrate muscular strength through performance of the bench press test which is a ratio of the maximum
         amount lifted and the individual’s body weight.
 10. Demonstrate cardiovascular endurance through performance of the 1.5 mile run.
 11. Identify and evaluate the level of performance in each assessment area by comparing the student’s performance value
         to the corresponding PEB score and understanding that a score at the 25th percentile or higher in each area excluding the
         body composition and flexibility represents an acceptable level of physical fitness.
 12. Demonstrate proficiency in daily physical fitness activities.
