Course Description: | Involves in-depth field studies of energy technologies of specific regions both within and outside the United States. Trips lasting from one to fourteen days in length to study the area constitute the major activities of the course. The specific area of investigation is indicated in the schedule of classes each time the course is offered. |

STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
1. Develop understanding of energy technologies through hands-on field experience.
2. Demonstrate the ability to conduct field studies in natural settings.
3. Practice field data collection methods.
4. Present gathered and interpreted data in a written and/or oral presentation at the conclusion of the research exercise.
TOPICAL OUTLINE:
I. Pre-trip activities involving lectures, labs, readings, activities and maps to prepare students for the environment and technologies they will encounter on the trip.
II. The field trip.
III. Post-trip activities in which students synthesize information gathered on the trip.
