Course Description: | Introduces a basic course in hockey designed for those who have had little or no formal instruction or for those with some experience who are interested in improving some aspect of their game. The emphasis is on teaching the students the elements of ice hockey including skating technique, conditioning, safety and equipment. Includes stick handling, shooting and positional play. |

STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
I. Develop and improve existing basic skating and develop new skills for hockey.
II. Learn how to play ice hockey, stick handling, shooting, position
III. Develop basic skating skills for advancement to higher levels of skating test levels and performance and the skills to participate in league play.
IV. Review and use proper conditioning methods for ice hockey
V. Demonstrate knowledge of hockey safety rules, history, terminology, and etiquette.
VI. Discuss proper selection and care of hockey equipment.
