 STANDARD COMPETENCIES:

 II.     To demonstrate proper tennis ground strokes.
 III.    To demonstrate a flat serve with direction and a slice serve.
 IV.     To demonstrate the proper mechanics of the forehand volley, backhand volley, block serve with depth, and drop volley.
 V.      To demonstrate the proper mechanics of the lob, smash, and half-volley.
 VI.     To recognize the proper court position for doubles and singles play.
 VII.    To apply serving placement and return strategy.
 VIII.   To apply game strategy and tactics for doubles and singles play.
 IX.     To demonstrate strategy for coming to the net.
 X       To review the historical development of tennis and major tennis tournaments.
 XI.     To identify court marking and dimensions.
