 STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
 
 I.      Review singles and doubles rules of play.
         A.      Discuss scoring, tiebreakers and etiquette.
         B.      Review and use proper conditioning methods for tennis.
         C.      Identify and use tennis equipment.
         D.      Demonstrate the handling of the racket, the ready position and stance.
         E.      Demonstrate the punch, full-swing and return serves
         F.      Practice the various volleys.
         G.      Explain the forehand and backhand strokes.
         H.      Practice lob drills and returning lob skills.
         I.      Demonstrate the overhead and the return of the smash.
         J.      Employ the half volley and demonstrate the volley return.
         K.      Develop and utilize drop shot and returning skills.
         L.      Compare and demonstrate different strategies for singles and doubles play.
