  Course Description:Focuses on improving cardiovascular fitness, burning calories and enhancing muscular endurance. Designed specifically to enhance aerobic work capacity and improve pedalling skills. Each exercise session is choreographed to music and includes a complete workout with a warm-up, endurance and cool-down component.

 STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
 
 I.      These outcomes do not necessarily reflect the exact sequence or full scope of the course materials.
 II.     To recognize the basic elements of a proper warm-up and cool-down.
 III.    To use the concept of monitoring heart rate to assess the intensity of an exercise bout.
 IV.     To use cycling to enhance cardiovascular fitness.
 V.      To use cycling to enhance aerobic work capacity.
 VI.     To use cycling to enhance muscular endurance.
 VII.    To recognize the need for water replacement during prolonged vigorous exercise
 VIII.   To recognize the role of cycling for both fitness and recreational enhancement.
 IX.     To recognize the relationship between exercise and caloric expenditure.
 X       To use cycling to develop an increase in muscular definition, tone, endurance, and flexibility.

 I.      Proper adjustment of seat and handle bar height.
 II.     Proper cycling or spinning motion of legs and ankles.
 III.    Understanding the essential elements of a proper warm-up and cool-down.
 IV.     Learning how to monitor the intensity of an exercise bout via heart rate..
 V.      Key elements necessary to enhance cardiovascular fitness.
 VI.     Key elements necessary to enhance aerobic work capacity.
 VII.    Key elements necessary to enhance muscular endurance.
 VIII.   Understanding the relationship between exercise intensity and caloric expenditure.
 IX.     Understanding the need for water replacement during vigorous prolonged exercise.
 X       The development of an appreciation for cycling both for recreation and fitness enhancement.
