 STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
 
 I.      Upon completion the student will:
 II.     Gain the knowledge of basic warm-up activities for skiing.
 III.    Demonstrate a fundamental variety of stretches for skiing.
 IV.     Learn the fundamental skills of strength training exercises and principles.
 V.      Gain knowledge and experience with basic cardiovascular building exercises that relate to ski conditioning
 VI.     Learn the basic concepts of proper nutrition as it relates to cold weather sports.


 TOPICAL OUTLINE:
 
 I.      Warm up activities for major muscle groups and joints.
 II.     Stretches for major muscle groups.
 III.    Discussions of theory concerning warm-up, stretching, strength training and cardiovascular conditioning (aerobic and anaerobic), and nutrition.
 IV.     Strength training:
         A.      Circuit weights
         B.      Free weights
         C.      Isometrics
         D.      Plyometrics
 V.      Cardiovascular conditioning exercises:
         A.      Walking
         B.      Jogging
         C.      Running
         D.      Sprinting
         E.      Stair walking
         F.      Jump rope
 VI.     Cool down exercises and concept.
