Course Description: | Enables the student to perfect stroke mechanics to swim with more ease, efficiency, power, and smoothness over greater distances. This course may utilize the competitive strokes, starts, and turns, and provide the `whys` as well as the `hows` of swim fitness so students can plan training programs to meet their changing needs. |

STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
I. Discuss hydrodynamics.
A. Practice the competitive and recreational swim strokes.
B. Demonstrate the various types of breath control.
C. Review and practice all phases of the arm stroke and the kick for each swimming stroke.
D. Apply basic and speed turns.
E. Identify and design a framework to swim fitness, the training process, performance requirements, workouts and routines.
F. Demonstrate rescue skills and treading water.
G. Recognize spinal injuries and how to care for them.
