STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
1. Interpret medical information using an evidence-based approach to health care
2. Apply the principles of evidence-based health care and understand the main controversies surrounding its application
3. Evaluate presenting signs and symptoms, physical findings and laboratory evidence
4. Distinguish between pertinent positive and negative physical findings
5. Develop a working differential diagnosis based on patient history and evaluation
6. Construct a differential diagnosis list and make a diagnosis from the differential
7. Describe indications for referral or consultation
8. Develop diagnostic and therapeutic treatment plans
9. Develop patient education materials
10. Describe and evaluate pharmacotherapeutics and treatment regimes
11. Synthesize and analyze information from a variety of sources to evaluate case studies
TOPICAL OUTLINE:
I. Case topics are selected by the student and are based on the clinical experience of the senior student while on clerkships.
