STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
1. Describe the mechanism of action and route of metabolism for a medication.
2. Select the appropriate medication(s) for the treatment of a specified disorder.
3. Prepare a written or electronic prescription which is appropriate, legal, and without error.
4. List the significant side effects and adverse experiences possible for any prescribed medication.
5. Identify the drug interactions of the prescribed medication.
6. Propose alternative or complementary therapies to medications.
7. Prepare and conduct patient education for prescribed medications.

The course will cover the clinical use of pharmacotherapeutics in patient populations across the lifespan in each of the following areas:
