  Course Description:Continues PAP 221 with additional presentations and small group experiences that examine common patient conditions in neurology, ophthalmology, otolaryngology. dermatology, orthopedics, and geriatrics. Focuses on developing patient and assessment treatment plans. Students learn to identify the signs and symptoms of common disorders, to further evaluate those disorders through appropriate testing, and to prepare a treatment plan to preserve health or mitigate suffering.

 TOPICAL OUTLINE:
 
 I.      Evaluate presenting signs and symptoms, physical findings and laboratory evidence to formulate a differential diagnosis of common orthopedic disorders.  Develop diagnostic and therapeutic treatment plans as well as patient education. (A, B, C, D, E, F, G)
         A.      Distinguish between pertinent positive and negative physical findings.
         B.      Identify physical findings by body system and develop a working differential diagnosis based on the findings.
         C.      Describe a differential diagnosis list and make a diagnosis from the differential.
         D.      Learn basic laboratory tests used, describe their methodology as well as interpreting resulting data.
         E.      Describe common orthopedic disorders and fractures and their presentations.
         F.      Demonstrate knowledge of appropriate `work up¿ for patient with a suspected orthopedic disorder or injury.
         G.      Describe indications for referral or consultation.
 II.     Evaluate presenting signs and symptoms, physical findings and laboratory evidence to formulate a differential diagnosis of common neurological disorders.  Develop diagnostic and therapeutic treatment plans as well as patient education. (A, B, C, D, E, F, G)
