STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
I. Prepares students for entry-level positions in the outdoor recreation leadership services profession.
II. Prepares students for transfer to complete a four-year degree in leisure services or recreation/natural resource management.
III. Develops a professional portfolio with the following sections: Syllabus, notes, handouts, etc. for each course taken, professional resume, technical skills resume, professional critique paper, a copy of official transcripts, and a goals and objectives paper relating to further education or employment.
IV. Solidifies skills and knowledge of professional level guiding techniques through an extended outdoor expedition.
V. Assesses student knowledge and ability through a comprehensive exam of all academic course work and a comprehensive exam of relevant technical skills.
