 STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
 
 I.      Demonstrates a variety of rock climbing techniques such as crack climbing, face climbing, friction, mantling, laybacks, etc.
 II.     Demonstrates knowledge of the history and foundation of rock climbing as part of the mountaineering art.
 III.    Demonstrates proper and safe techniques for rock climbing.
 IV.     Demonstrates the mechanics of descent (rappelling)
 V.      Demonstrates an awareness of sensitivity to the rock environment around them.
 VI.     Demonstrates the fundamentals of outdoor leadership and group management as they relate to rock climbing.
 VII.    Demonstrates good judgment while rock climbing.
 VIII.   Demonstrates beginning to advanced rock climbing techniques
 IX.     Demonstrates knowledge of protecting a lead climber, devices used, and when to apply them.
 X       Demonstrates how a multi-pitch rock climb is performed.
