STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
I. Know and understand the different uses of the different types of snowshoes.
A. Demonstrate safe snowshoe travel techniques for the mountains in winter.
B. Identify various recreational opportunities for accessing the wilderness on snowshoes.
C. Identify various snowshoeing trails available for day trips and overnight encampments.
D. Identify proper clothing and equipment for winter backcountry travel.
E. Design an appropriate level of activity for a half-day, full-day, and overnight snowshoeing activity.
F. Understand the specific needs of the body when in a nivean environment.
