STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
I. Upon completion of this course, the student should demonstrate knowledge and/or skill in the following areas:
A. Appropriate equipment selection
B. Basic bicycle maintenance and repair
C. Conditioning activities
D. Proper riding techniques
E. Completing tours of 10, 25 and 40 miles
F. Proper diet for training and touring
TOPICAL OUTLINE:
I. Frame, seat and gear selection
II. Accessory selection
III. Basic repairs i.e. Flat tires, derallieur adjustment, lubrication, spoke replacement
IV. Appropriate conditioning exercises
V. Touring riding techniques i.e. gear selection, ankling, pacing, breathing
VI. Route planning
