Course Description: | Introduces the student to the elements of fly tying including equipment selection and use, materials and techniques to tie a wide variety of lies. Basic entomology of insects and life cycle stages imitated by the flytier will be discussed. |

STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
I. Students will be able to identify the stages in insect life being imitated by the tied fly
II. Students will be able to identify and use a variety of fly tying tools
III. Students will be able to identify and select appropriate fly fishing hooks for a variety of flies
IV. Students will be able to identify and select appropriate fly tying materials for a variety of flies
V. Students will be able to demonstrate various methods of attaching materials to the hook in the correct proportions
VI. Students will gain an understanding of the nomenclature of fly tying
VII. Students will develop the ability to tie a variety of flies
