  Course Description:Explores the practical application methods used in developing and administering a safety and health/accident prevention plan. This plan will be developed to meet the current Occupational Safety and Health Administration`s Standards.

 STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
 
 I.      Explain emerging trends in the field of safety and health.
 II.     Define a Proactive Approach to planning and administering a comprehensive safety and health program.
 III.    List and explain five key elements of a proactive safety program.
 IV.     Describe in detail the National Safety Council's system approach to hazard control.
 V.      Define human factors, situational factors, and environmental factors as they relate to accident causes and their control.
 VI.     Explain the six step loss control process.
 VII.    List four basic objectives of a good occupational health program.
 VIII.   Develop a company contingency plan.
 IX.     Describe various types of Employee Assistance Plans.
 X       List OSHA required safety and health plans/programs, training, and recordkeeping requirements.

 XXI.    Outline the elements of effective occupational safety and health program management based on OSHA voluntary guidelines.
 XXII.   Write a management safety policy statement and establish safety and health goals for a company of their choosing.

 XXIV.   List and explain the 7 parts of the OSHA guidelines for a safety and health program which meets the standards in 29 CFR 1926.

 XXVI.   Develop a comprehensive Safety and Health Program that incorporates both National Safety Council and OSHA recommendations and guidelines.
